Prevailing wage law in California covers not only the payment of wages, but also regulates the payment of fringe benefits, holiday pay, travel and subsistence pay, and record keeping. State law also mandates the employment of apprentices. The penalties for non-compliance are stiff.
Cook Brown Partner Carrie Bushman will discuss:
- Recently enacted statutory provisions regarding new penalties for non-compliance with public works contractor registration requirements;
- The small project exemption for contractor registration and submission of eCPRs; and,
- New penalty provisions for an awarding body’s failure to notify DIR of public works projects.
Attendees will also learn how to read and interpret prevailing wage determinations, including scopes of work, travel and subsistence provisions, and shift differential provisions. The class will also focus on: taking credit for fringe benefit contributions; public works contractor registration requirements; apprenticeship compliance; recordkeeping requirements, including eCPR; and, new skilled and trained workforce requirements on certain jobs.
