Ryan is a seasoned attorney with wide-ranging experience in a number of areas of law, including labor and employment, business litigation, contract disputes, insurance defense, agricultural law, real estate, and construction defect claims.  He has represented large, national companies as well as small business owners.   He is passionate about helping his clients grow and succeed by assisting them in navigating the complex and challenging legal environment in California.  Ryan is committed to securing the best outcome possible for his clients.    

Ryan’s practice at Cook Brown focuses primarily on labor and employment matters.  He is known for his work in wage and hour law, discrimination and harassment claims, and wrongful termination.  Ryan’s experience ranges from small, single Plaintiff matters to large, complicated class actions and Private Attorney General Act (PAGA) claims.  

Ryan frequently advises clients on employment-related decisions, knowing that the best defense to employment claims often begins long before a claim is ever filed.  He frequently assists clients in making employment decisions, addressing employee issues, negotiating and drafting contracts, preparing employment policies, and addressing problems early.  If litigation becomes necessary, Ryan takes an aggressive and dogged approach to representing his clients.  He has tried and arbitrated multiple cases during the course of his career. He is adept at finding creative and practical solutions to legal issues.  Ryan is aware of how significant legal costs can be and strives for efficiency and practical solutions in his practice.

Ryan graduated from the University of San Diego, School of Law with honors.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University, where he also served as the founding president of the Gator’s Rugby Football Club.

Ryan is licensed to practice before all California state and federal courts.  He is also licensed to practice in Washington.
